Solidarity with the Workers of EKTAM – PEPSI Co in Northern Cyprus

Statement by New Internationalist Left in Cyprus

We strongly condemn the dismissal of 39 workers from EKTAM Soft Drinks in Famagusta, immediately after they demanded the signing of a collective agreement.
We express our full and unconditional solidarity with the workers who have now been on strike for 18 days and counting, as well as with their union, EMEK-İŞ, in their just struggle.
We denounce the company’s anti-union practices, including dismissals, intimidation, harassment, and threats targeting workers who are courageously defending their right to dignified wages and decent working conditions.
We stand together with the workers of EKTAM Soft Drinks and EMEK-İŞ in demanding:
*Immediate reinstatement of all dismissed workers
*Immediate and full respect for their right to union representation
*An end to all anti-union interference and intimidation
*Recognition of their union and engagement in good-faith negotiations
*The initiation of a collective agreement process that guarantees fair and secure working conditions

Their struggle is just, and it concerns all of us. An injury to one is an injury to all.
