Toomaj Salehi: rapper and metalworker in solitary confinement for over 120 days!

Re-posted from Shahrokh Zamani Action Campaign

Toomaj Salehi, a rapper and metalworker, has been in solitary confinement for over 120 days in Evin prison.

When he was arrested on October 30th 2022, the Iranian regime’s thugs beat him up brutally. Since then, he has been tortured physically and psychologically, including having his leg broken, fingers and ribs crushed and an eye injured! He is in danger of losing the sight in his eye and needs urgent medical care.

Not only has the blood-soaked regime denied Toomaj the necessary medical care, it then forced him to confess to so-called crimes he had not committed. Based on the coerced confession, he was accused of “Corruption on Earth” and “War against God” – and therefore faces the death penalty.

For a number of years Toomaj Salehi has denounced the systematic oppression of the Iranian regime. His songs openly condemn the absence of political and civil rights, corruption, gender apartheid, and other social inequalities. The life of this brave dissident rapper from Shahin Shahr, near Esfahan, is in great danger.

The Shahrokh Zamani Action Campaign strongly condemns the arrest, torture and continuing detention of Toomaj Salehi, and calls for his immediate and unconditional release. We urge all trade unionists, socialists and other political activists to help us in defending the rights of all workers, political prisoners and social rights’ activists in Iran.

Free Toomaj Salehi now!
Free all political prisoners in Iran!
