Iranian regime’s Supreme Court confirms Sharifeh Mohammadi’s death sentence!

According to Sharifeh Mohammadi’s lawyer, Amir Raisian, Branch 39 of the Iranian regime’s Supreme Court has now upheld her death sentence, despite “all the remaining ambiguities and objections”. The Supreme Court had previously overturned this ruling.

Mr Raisian said: “None of the problems [with Sharifeh’s case] have been resolved. We will pursue a retrial and try to overturn the death sentence in other ways.”

The latest setback on August 16th follows the reinstatement of Sharifeh’s death sentence on February 13th 2025.

Sharifeh Mohammadi is a well-known labour activist. Her trumped-up charges include “armed rebellion” – based on her previous membership of the Co-ordination Committee for Establishing Labour Organisations! Examples of Sharifeh Mohammadi’s “rebellion” charge include “possession of posters calling for no executions, membership of a Telegram group, and publication of several articles.”

The Shahrokh Zamani Action Campaign strongly condemns the arrest, continuing detention and baseless death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi and calls for her immediate and unconditional release. We urge all trade unionists, socialists and other political activists to help us in defending the rights of all workers, political prisoners and social rights activists in Iran.

Free all political prisoners in Iran!
