Greece: discussions organized at the 33rd Antinazi Zone – YRE Camp

Report from Antinazi Zone – YRE  

The 33rd Antinazi Zone – YRE (Youth Against Racism in Europe) camp will be held between July 31 and August 9 in Nafplio Greece (Drepano beach). For ten days, people from different countries and of all ages, will meet, discuss, exchange ideas and plan the upcoming period of antifascist actions, as well as relax and have fun in an atmosphere of solidarity.

Here are the titles of the discussions we organize this year:

  • How do we deal with fascist groups in schools? 

We’ll be discussing with the “Anti-Fascist Network in Education”, “Art Against Fascism”, and “Antinazi Zone”

  • Tradwives: a right to choose or an attack on women’s rights?
  • The commodification of happiness
  • “It’s not a misunderstanding. It’s sexism and violence” 

Sexism, harassment, and gender-based violence in schools, workplaces and sports. How do we tackle it?

  • From Akronafplia to Kaisariani

The history of 200 communists who were executed in Kaisariani and the thousands of other political prisoners of the Left that were handed over to the Nazi occupying forces by the Metaxas dictatorship.

  • Are there Palestinians and Israelis fighting together?

    With speakers from Israel and Palestine 
  • Science in the Shadow of the Swastika 

Why did the majority of scientists join the Nazi Party in  the 1930s? How did  they contribute to the rise of fascism and what lessons can we draw for today?

  • Global Rivalries and militarization
  • Music Against Colonialism

A trip to the history of the enslaved black people’s music in the U.S., jazz, Afrobeat, reggae, nueva canción, Palestinian rap, and more.

  • New Parties – old Policies

A discussion about the new parties created by Tsipras and Karystianoy and about the tasks of the Left  

  • The Hidden Cost of Artificial Intelligence
